NSW Waste Levy
Waste contractors in NSW have called for a freeze on waste levy increases with the addition of possibly $7 – $24/t from the new carbon tax. With the carbon tax and the schedule levy increases of $10/t every July until 2012 will mean waste costs will soar.

It is rumoured Thiess Services has put Thiess Waste Management on the market.
Landfill Mining
Landfill mining is the extraction and re-processing of previously landfilled material to extract recyclables and gain more landfill space. Obviously the recovered materials must must cover the cost of excavation and resource recovery.
