To obtain the total cost of supply and application of gypsum per tonne of pure CaSO4.2H2O, the following information is required:
A. the landed cost at the farm gate of gypsum per tonne (gypsum + freight);
B. the cost of spreading or mixing in irrigation water per tonne of gypsum;
C. the purity, as percentage S (wet weight basis).
Examples:
1. Recycled gypsum costs $35.00 per tonne ex plant plus $25.00 per tonne freight = $60.00 per tonne at the farm gate and $10.00 per tonne to spread. Its purity is 17% S wet weight basis.
The total cost of supply and application of gypsum per tonne of pure
CaSO4.2H20 = $ (35 + 10) x 18.6/17 = $76.59 per tonne.
2. NSW mined gypsum costs $15.00 per tonne ex plant plus $40.00 per tonne freight = $60.00 per tonne at the farm gate and $11.00 per tonne to spread. Its purity is 15% S wet weight basis.
The total cost of supply and application of gypsum per tonne of pure
CaSO4.2H20 = $ (35 + 10) x 18.6/15.5 = $81.84 per tonne.
