Due to the lack of rain in the Liverpool Plains a lot of the forecasted planting of Sorghum has not taken place. With Farmers waiting for a better soil profile it is predicted most of the planting will take place in Mid December.
NSW forecasted cotton planting is also well down with poor prices and rain to blame.
All up the DPI forecasted:
- NSW summers crop planting (excluding rice) to be down 8%
- Rice sowing is up by about 10% to 120,000ha this year
