Edge Environment and the Better Buildings Partnership are working collaboratively with leading industry players to drive best practice, foster environmental innovation and create new commercial opportunities for the Sydney property sector.
It is estimated for every 1000m2 of commercial office space turned over, approximately 63 tonnes of fitout material is generated and up to 80% of it wasted to landfill. With 400,000 square metres of the Sydney CBD turning over every year through lease expiry, over 25,000 tonnes of ceiling and carpet tiles, and other fitout materials such as plasterboard waste and furniture are sent to landfill before their “use by” date is up.
