Annual wheat seed sowings in NSW are expected to be down on last year, because more farmers are switching to higher priced oil crops as the price of grain falls. The estimated 2.84 million hectares of wheat to be sown in 2010 is 8 percent down on last year estimate.

Some growers are moving from wheat to alternative pulse and oilseed crops (such as canola) due to the price outlook for wheat.
